I haven't worked in an office in years (and when I did, I never wore suits), but I am always interested in stylish workwear. I've noticed that most of my 'fashiony' stuff is really not appropriate for the office. The skirts have exorbitant slits, leather pants or latex leggings really aren't good workwear either.
So I put together this outfit with my Elizabeth and James Blazer.
What I really love about this jacket is the length. It looks more fashion forward than the ordinary waist length blazer. This jacket is really similar, and the perforated bottom looks awesome. But it's still a blazer so it is good for work.
The top was Plastic Island, but I don't think the company exists any more :(
I found some similar ones though. This Jonathan Simkhai top has an uneven hem just like the one I'm wearing. And this one is the perfect color. I chose this color to match the jacket lining, it's a light pink/taupe. When I roll the sleeves up I wear this top to match. The sleeves are 3/4 length so I hardly ever roll them down, but if I do, I go with this Parker tank.
The pants are just simple black pants. My favorite are the Gap ultra skinny slacks. But I also love wearing my jbrands with the blazer. Because they're black, they look like slacks, and are perfect as workwear.
My shoes are my favorite Manolos. They are great workwear shoes and go with everything else, from mini skirts to jeans...even cocktail dresses. I know they're expensive, but I haven't found a shoe that is more versatile, or lasts longer, or remains in style quite like this one.
Another kind of cool option would be open toe booties. I think these add an interesting touch to a workwear outfit, make it look a little more unique. Check out these, too. They're not too high, so they can be worn all day in the office.
For jewelry, I didn't want to go all out with crazy gemstones, so I just chose a simple watch -- I love this Movado one, or of course the David Yurman one, but that's just a dream for now. Givenchy silver bangle, I am obsessed with this, the price seriously trips me out. Tiffany's open heart pendant (mine is opal, my birthstone), and a simple silver ring (try this one).
And that's my workwear choices. Happy Monday and May the fourth be with you! :P :D
