Summer Solstice And All White
Of course this would be the day of the year that I don't feel well. Summer Solstice is the longest day of the year, and this year it falls on a really hot day. Instead of going to the beach and pier concerts, I am nursing a two-day headache that's threatening to become a three-day.
At least I got my outfit ready.
I love linen shorts and these Vince shorts (Neimann Marcus, $275) are perfect for a summer solstice and the heat wave we are currently having. Linen is a natural fabric so it works by transferring heat and moisture to the outside, so even when you're hot, the fabric keeps you cool.
It's important to find good quality linen, however. A lot of cheaper linen is very rough and scratchy, so companies mix it with polyester or rayon to make it softer. It takes away the number one wicking property of linen. But if the fabric is good quality, 100% linen is very soft.
This whole outfit reminded me of something from the 50s. Maybe it's the red lipstick, that makes this outfit look like something Betty Boop would wear. I mean, people say I remind them of her, but no pressure!
And I paired it all with my Zara city bag ($55.90), that I made a vlog about, and will post this weekend!
Get The Look
These shorts are my new old favourite. I've had them for a long time before I realized they can be worn at the waist, and look like some cute bloomers!
I love that this bag has a red lining and it's a perfect match for my Ruby Woo lipstick (M.A.C. $17). And incidentally, it's also the perfect Louboutin red. The light colour is great for that summer solstice, heat wave look when you still need a bigger bag.
No summer solstice look is complete without a crop top. I love the V hem on this one because it makes my stomach look super flat!
I know it seems like I'm living in these Manolo Blahnik sandals, and that's because I am! They are the perfect summer shoe and I'm so glad I got them. The low heel is also perfect because I can walk in them for hours!
Stay cool out there everyone!
