Never in the history of fashion has there been a better classic than the leather mini. It is yet another staple that never goes out of style.
I was wondering recently if I'm too old to wear a leather mini skirt (I'm 30). I don't know the answer -- someone told me as long as I don't have kids, I can wear it -- I don't know if that's true either. I decided to get it anyway and wear it as often as I want :D
The skirt isn't too shiny or bright, so it can double as just a plain black mini. But it does have embroidery on the sides giving it just a touch of individuality.
There are literally thousands of different leather mini skirts out there, but here are some of my favorites: This skirt with a lot of different zippers, this Donna Karan leather wrap skirt, and this Haute Hippie brown leather mini (on sale!)
But the one I'm wearing is this Mango embroidered skirt. It is on sale now so hurry! It is really leather, and for fifty bucks I'd say that's a steal.
The inspiration was the Balmain leather skirt, and I was so excited when I saw this mini at mango for a fraction of the price. I know it's not the same, but this skirt has become my piece de resistance, and I am really happy with it.
I love my Dolce Vita mid-calf boots with this skirt. For some reason, even though they are high, they make my legs look longer with a skirt. I love a good calf boot, and these Gianvito Rossi ones are my fave! (I was just watching Grace and Frankie, and I SWEAR Jane Fonda had these on)
That price is kind of insane though, so check out these Michael Kors booties. These Nine West boots are identical to mine, and a much better price ;) I like the grey color because they can be worn with all black outifts quite easily.
For accessories I wanted the leather mini to have some support :) so I went with the Rebecca Minkoff studded bag (similar here), or check out this Rebecca Minkoff one if you like fringe. I know it's not technically a bag, but this Alexander McQueen is just...whoa.
and that's it! It looks edgy, but not too costume-y
