a romantic flowy dress
This is my romantic flowy dress. Actually, I call it my walk in the wind dress, because of the way it billows around me when I walk, especially on a windy day. We've been having a lot of summer weather and wind, so this dress is absolutely perfect right now.
I pretty much made this dress myself. I think it was RVCA originally, and it had metal squares all the way down the sides. It was also floor length and had no slit.
I added the slit and sewed it by hand (which took forever), and cut it to this midi length, before it was even trendy ;)))
I would have liked for it to be more fitted, like this dress, because then I wouldn't have to keep holding on to it to show off the fit. I love the loose look of this Phillip Lim dress, it's just the right amount of flowy-ness.
This Zimmerman is the absolute perfect romantic flowy dress. I also like the Eileen Fisher dress, it's pretty much identical to mine. And if you like some really heavy ruffle, this Tibi dress is perfect.
I thought a big bag was an interesting choice for a romantic flowy dress like mine. It makes the whole look more casual which is perfect for a mid-day outing.
I went with the Manolo Chaos again, in black. I love the simplicity of these sandals, I can wear them with anything and not worry about them taking away from the rest of the look. This is definitely a trend that I hope will stick around. Here is a similar pair from Nordstrom, at a much better price. These suede sandals are another great choice.
Finally, I thought I'd take a jacket with me in case I need one, which I doubt would be necessary right now. But just in case it gets colder, this Vince cardigan is great for a romantic flowy dress. The drape in this Eileen Fisher cardigan and this Saks sweater match perfectly with a summer dress underneath.
These looks remind of Prabal Gurung's FW 2015 collection - especially this coat. I loved seeing romantic silk dresses under big, warm coats. It was an unusual match that I always go for when picking my clothes.
I hope you're all having a wonderful week, and happy hump day!
