A Balmain New Year's Eve
Now, that's not actually Balmain, more like Balmain-inspired, but his holiday lookbook has been killing! A lot of my holiday outfits were inspired by him, and this look is no exception.
Nothing say 'Happy New Year!' like a sequin gold top. Mine is Phillip Lim (here on consignment). This one is from the same collection, only long sleeve. This top is also a good choice if the allover gold is too much ;)
I know I've worn this look before (although without the tights), but I feel it's more apropos now that NYE is coming up.
A lot of the holiday looks from Balmain had gold details, sequin or metallic thread, and the black tights, of course. I wore my Saint Laurent boots with this look, (here they are, consignment as well). I like this flat version too, which would be great with this outfit if you're going to a concert or somewhere you will be standing for a long time.
These boots are a more simple silhouette and a lower heel, which would be great for New Year's Eve and for the rest of winter.
While the Balmain looks were mostly dresses, mine is a skirt and top, with a BCBG mini. The gold top works well with pants too, so I'm glad to have some versatility with it.
I feel like this look works better with a belt than without, as it gives it a more 'dressy' feel. My belt is just a simple one from the Gap. A skinny belt, like this Kate Spade, would work well here. The gold buckle on this Dsquared belt also would be a good match with the gold from the top.
I thought it better to go easier on the jewelry since there's already plenty of gold here. I had to go with some cluster earrings, however (similar here). These DANNIJO cluster earrings also caught my eye, I always thought their jewelry was too pricey for me, but these are a very affordable. These Ippolita clusters are more expensive, but definitely worth it.
And there you have it, a pretty simple way to copy an outfit for a Balmain New Year's Eve.
Hope you all have a great week leading up to the festivities!
