Designer Imitation — Proenza Schouler
As you might already know, I love doing designer imitation with my own clothes. Like my Burberry post, this time I wanted to copy Proenza Schouler’s Spring 2018 look.
I loved the all white looks for summer, and this designer imitation is supposed to look like this outfit.
I realize they’re very different, but the point of a designer imitation, in my opinion is not to copy the look exactly, but to give your ‘inspired’ version of the outfit. The ruffles on the top were what stuck out to me, and I knew just the top to recreate it. I think the model is also wearing a skirt and black flats. What I went with was white tuxedo pants and my red fringe sandals to match my lipstick.
Get The Look
This top is from a few years ago, but ruffles are back this season (or I think every season for the summer), so I brought it back out. The Proenza look has the black boustier underneath the top, so I just wore black lingerie. In person, you can see it better through the shirt. I think it just adds a bit of colour to the all white.
I’m always happy to wear these pants. They’re standard tuxedo pants with the satin belt and stripe down the side. It’s good to have one of these in your wardrobe as they can be dressed up easily.
I also made an exception to this designer imitation with jewelry. In the original look, she’s wearing glass bangles, but I decided on plain gold bracelets. The glass gives this outfit some simplicity, and my choice of bracelet confirms that as well. My bag is a nod to Alexander McQueen, another designer imitation ;)
The shoes are also different in my look. I wanted to match the Ruby Woo lipstick (MAC, $17.50), so I wore my red sandals. Also, I’m too short to wear flats with these pants!
Do you guys think I did a good job or what??
